Implementing NGSS for Engagement, Equity, and Agency
This workshop introduces teachers to curricular resources for implementing NGSS practices. In addition to understanding content and scientific practices, teachers must also recognize their roles as curating transformative educational experiences among students. Presenters will discuss how to manage the multiple demands of supporting all students through this transformation while providing research and strategies to create meaningful laboratory experiences and consensus building opportunities.

Together Everyone Achieves More
Teamwork is not a new concept for most students but being thrown into a group with students they do not know can be difficult for many students. This can be especially true for students who often do not feel included in teams. Building a Lego Motel allows students to learn teamwork and communication skills within an engineering team. Students quickly learn that they each have different talents and skills that allow them to be a successful team. Experience the building of a Lego Motel.

Working with Pre-Service Teachers
Do you already have pre-service teachers in your classroom? Are you looking for ways to pass on your accumulated experience to others? Are you looking for some extra help in your classroom? Come and share your personal experiences, for better or for worse, working with pre-service teachers and discuss ways to take advantage of these valuable resources. Extra hands (and minds) in the classroom can help you create an inclusive classroom for your diverse students! This session will be interactive.

Energy in Action - How Does Energy Move and Change?
How is energy transferred between objects or systems? Participants will make observations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electricity, and construct an explanation that uses evidence to support the claim that energy can move and change. Aligns to Colorado Science Academic Standards for Grade 4 Standard 1. Physical Science and Grade level Expectations.
